The kids were just about to get into our sandbox, and I uncovered it to find huge fleas hopping about. Are they sand fleas? We got the sandbox sand last year from HD, and it was fine up until now. We keep it covered, and I've never seen an infestation of animal fleas like this. Could the eggs have been incubating until just recently? |

Yep, dump it into trash bags, wash out sandbox, wait 1 week and refill. |

When our son was younger he practically lived in the sand box. We had the same problem, someone suggested a mixture of clorox and water in a spray bottle (aprox 10 % solution) and spray the sand box in the evening. The smell will disapate by the morning. We did not have a flea problem anymore. We did have the neighbors cat that pushed the cover off of the sand box and used it for it's litter box. The spray didn't help that. |
