Congrats! but why you would want to advertise to complete strangers such personal info? why take a chance? I apologize in advance if i'm just being a paranoid parent |

I agree with Duncan and Joy - Bill, please resist the temptation to plant one of these things on your lawn. Your friends and family know where you live and will no doubt welcome the little one open arms without the need of said sign. Should you decide to go ahead with the stork sign anyway, please make sure that Mom is in agreement. Thankfully my mother mentioned that she thought these signs were adorable well in advance of the birth of our first so I could make it abundantly clear that my husband and I would not allow such a lawn ornament on our yard. Congratulations and God Bless. |

Congratulations, Bill! When I was expecting, I was surprised to read that it is recommended that you NOT put up a sign at your house. I read it in the material provided in the childbirth class at Overlook. I guess I just never thought about it, but it makes sense. One idea, if you'd like to have something for the day you bring the baby home, is to put up just pink or blue balloons and then take them down that evening. Then your neighbors will know the baby has arrived, but strangers will think it's just a party. Sad we have to worry about these things! |

Yesterday, I was going to suggest it might not be the best idea to display such important information about a newborn for everyone who might drive by your house. Doesn't seem terribly prudent. But I didn't want to be the first (or only) person to rain on your parade. Now that others have chimed in you have my 2 cents. I agree with the balloons. Then everyone who knows you were expecting will know the baby has arrived, but strangers with less than honorable intentions won't have access to very personal information about your baby. |

Sadly, we were told the same thing at St. Barnabus. It wouldn't have occurred to me to worry about it, but I decided not to have the Welcome Baby Girl balloons all over the porch and had a few pink balloons instead. |

Bill, if you give in, THEY win. Put that sign out front and show THEM that they cannot take away your freedom through fear. |
