Hey there-
I am going on vacation for 2 weeks and need a reputable cat boarder. I have tried Maplewood Animal Hospital and Preppy pup. I wasn't impressed by either for cats (Preppy pup said the cat would stay in a 3x2 cage without walking outside of it the whole time). I have no other options - family lives in Chicago, new to area so no trustworthy friends, and actually currently "homeless" until closing. Please help.

Call Maida Lind of Perfect Pet Cat Sitting. She will come to your home and care for your kitty. We can vouch for her reliability and reputation. She has cared for our 4 when we have gone on vacation. She is well known in the MPL area.

Her phone # is listed.

I don't have a home - we are in between closing on a place and moving out of our apt.

Maybe if you post some details about personality, needs, etc. some kind soul will offer to let her stay in their home. My friends who do that have a current boarder, so I know they are out.

I'm afraid that vet cages are pretty much the option around here. Most people with cats have the sitter in their home.

I was just talking about this place with a friend yesterday. Of course, we were talking about it because it seems nicer than most of the places we ourselves have stayed on vacations....but - it seems like a very, very nice place for animal boarding. I think the "Deluxe kitty suite" is bigger than most of the apartments I've rented... The cats even have color televisions (they probably even have cable so they can watch Animal Planet) and you can log on to a website and check out the "kitty cam" to see what your cat is up to.

Second Morris Animal Inn.
You might also want to check out Best Friends on Route 22 W in North Plainfield.

In that case, try Summit Cat & Dog Hospital. Their facility is new and quite nice, but not sure if they do boarding.

I actually have looked at the Morris Animal Inn - that has been my first choice but I know it is kind of far. Has anyone ever used them? Feedback?

I boarded our cats for a short time at Summit Cat & Dog Hospital. We only needed a place for the day. The people were nice and the place was clean. But, I don't think I'd want my cats cooped up like that for 2 weeks. Seems a little traumatic to be stuck in a small space like that for that long. Maybe they'd be fine, but well, it would just break my heart to do that. If I needed to board them for 2 weeks, I'd spring for the luxury units at Morris (I've never used them before though).

I can't download the brochure from Morris; any idea of the rates for cats? I, too, would go for the luxury for two weeks.

Cia - we have friends who live right there. It takes about 20-25 minutes from here. The key is to avoid going at rush hour, since 287 is a mess up there (esp. the 24/10 merges) weekday mornings and evenings.

Thanks - I am calling them now to see if they have space.

Wowza. They really have their stuff together. I went for the mid-line (32 dollars a day) with 2 pampered pet sessions. I won't even attempt to tell my hubbie what it is costing (secret stash for this one!)
