I don't want to pay for a membership I can't use. If anyone wants it they can get it so many other ways. ITunes is hyper secure and you need not have a worry in the world and they will have what you want, I am almost positive. You can opt out of any email offers and the like but at least listen and look. Give it a try and see if you like it. I've searched for a lot of artists on iTunes, the largest black hole there is the lack of Beatles music, but I've read the Beatles library is being prepared for internet sales. Beatles isn't available online at all, btw, except of course through P2P and "stealing". There are a few other labels that haven't released their music to iTunes, but certainly most have.
