I'm desperate to get my eyebrows threaded today or tomorrow as local as possible. I know it's been discussed before, but can't find it in the search. Anyone know who does it locally? Waxing makes me break out.
Thanks.

I had my eyebrows threaded in Iselin, in the Oaktree Road area. That area has mostly Indian businesses and is fun to visit, but is about 20 miles away. I am also interested in hearing if there is somewhere nearby.

Last time I was on Stuyvesant Street in Union, across the street from Van Gogh's ear was a nail place that advertised threading. (Via a sign in the window.) That's the only place I've seen.

Second for Hoboken. Washington Street "The Eyebrow Place" somewhere between Third and Fifth, on the west side of the street.

Heh, for me, hopping on the train and going to Manhattan is more local than say, Iselin. What's the difference between threading and waxing? I know they use a thread, I just don't get the whole thing...

Third for Hoboken, though I don't go there, but two women I work with do regularly and their brows always look great.

My understanding is that they tie threads around the hairs and pull it out, but someone correct me if that's wrong. I'm also unsure of the benefits vs. waxing, both pull out from the root, unless you're sensitive to the heat, I guess.

I've done both waxing & threading. The threading seems to be more targeted, seems to last a bit longer for me & hurts less (though waxing doesn't really bother me) - and you aren't all red after threading.
If in the city, I have gone to a place one block south of St. Marks (7th, I think)near 2nd Ave. that's inexpensive & they do a very good job....some little barber shop on the south side of the street, next to a shoe repair place. With your savings, you can get a nice little Indian lunch on 6th street!

If you go to a place that does threading, you can ask them to demonstrate how the knotting/pulling works on your arm.

The place on Stuyvesant Avenue in Union is called Lovely Nails. I switched from waxing to threading about six months ago, and definitely prefer it. For me, it seems more sanitary, and the results last longer.

X Changes Spa in Westfield has a person on Thursday and Saturday.
She and her sister are pretty good.

Wow... I usually just tweeze myself. How much does threading cost at that place on 7th @ 2nd Av (or in general)?

The place I mentioned in the city is something like $8 (before tip), if I recall...and they spend time to get it right.
