This lone plant sprung up in one the beds that has been a work in progress since last year. I was ready to pull it as a weed when I noticed it was beginning to bud and it has since produced about a dozen flowers. It's hard to tell the size from the photo but it's about 18" high and the flowers are about 1 1/2" across. I can't remember planting anything that looks like this and since there is only one, it's seems unlikely it's a weed.

Definition of a weed is anything you didn't palnt or don't want where it grows

Is it a creeper? It looks a bit like what we'd call a potato vine except there are more flowers in the cluster and they're not quite as blue as here. Definitely a pernicious weed here.

Hope it brings pleasure and wonder to you and to your garden!

Looks like a clover flower to me. The white ones are the most common, but they come in other varieties.
A quick google got me this picture:

Kathy, your clover leaves are very different from ours then - ours are rounded and a softer green the leaves in the pic above are long, dark, glossy and pointy. Still clover?

As a kid, I used to pick all the clover flower "weeds" out of the lawn & tie them into necklaces for my mom. Do kids still do that?

Dandelions didn't work; stalks too thick.

I guess I was so used to the small white clover that is only a few inches high that I didn't realize there is other kinds that grow to be this this tall & large.
