We have a couple stray kittens living under our porch. We'd love to entice them out and adopt them out, but we'd settle for just getting rid of them, nonlethally. (We already have two cats that don't get enough attention with the two kids.) Any advice?

Trap and domesticate them. Also trap the mom, who is surely around somewhere too, as I have found that kittens are not spontaneously generated from spring rains.

If mom is still lactating, it gets more complicated. I'll get my kitten-trapping wife to post.

I am not John's kitty trapping wife LOL but I do volunteer with the shelter:

Contact your local Animal Control Officer. The shelter in town (JAC) cannot take the kittens from you, they can only come in through the AC Officer.

If you deceide to take them in to adopt them out yourself and you can't judge how old they are then buy some kitten formular in the pet store just in case but also get them to a vet asap. Please be careful to not let your cats interact with the kittens as feline leukemia and feline aids can transmit very easily and strays carry these infections pretty regularly.

We once took in 4 kittens who were abandoned by their mother, or she was killed, we don't know, they were found in the basement of an apartment building, only 4 of 7 were alive. I gotta say it is one of my greatest childhood memories raising those kitties, they were only a few days old, and we basically spent all our time with them, giving them formula, teaching them to walk up steps, seeing their first cute li'l poops! Ok ok, enough reminiscing. Do you know if the mohter's around? Can you go under your porch?

We can't go under the porch without ripping it up. We haven't seen the mother in a week at least. I'll call the AC officer; thanks, everyone.

Amie, I don't know what happened to the mother (gray, right?), but I think the kittens were born somewhere around the house behind ours, so if she's okay then she is probably nearby. TeriLynn sent an email around a week ago saying that a momma had a litter on their property.
