My enterprising toddler decorated our garage door with colorful blue and pink "sidewalk chalk". Any recommendations for how to remove without damaging the paint job on the garage door?

Use a hose. Water works wonders.

Try the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers (test in a small area first to make sure it doesn't remove any paint)
