Yesterday I saw that Valley Street was closed starting at Parker. Is it possible to get onto Valley at Tuscan Rd. today, or is that closed, too? |

Don't know, but the huge traffic delays caused me to be slightly tadry for a court appointment. I was driving a friend to his appointment and the Judge absolutely had a fit at us for being late! Now we have to re-open the case and re-file and all that. What a waste! Couldn't the road repair have waited until school lets out, at least around Tuscan School? The area is already crowded and somewhat dangerous during school start/dismissal times! Extra time and extra caution is advisable at all times, but particularly with this added stress to the area. The vehicular congestion is torment when you are in a time crunch and this is how accidents occur. So be Careful out there, Friends! Jersey girl |

There were detours and construction and barricades all over yesterday in the area of Columbia. I was trying to get to the Board of Ed. building from my house (about a half a mile away) and it took about 20 minutes before I could get to a place where I could park and walk there. Major inconvenience. Yet, by about 3:30, all the roads were open and clear. This morning, Valley was blocked off at Parker. Not sure how far the closures extended, though. |

There's a much better thread bitching about this in "Maplewood". See "Code Red". |

Since no one responded yesterday, I ventured out to check in the afternoon and found that Tuscan was open to Valley and that Valley was actually open at least to Oakland Rd. This morning when driving on Prospect towards South Orange it was obvious that there were more closings someplace along the way, since there were horrible backups on Prospect near Garfield Pl. It would have been nice if someone had warned us of all these closings and would let us know how long to expect this to be going on. What a mess. |

Ah! Thanks, Greenetree. I haven't been reading that thread. And now that I've read it, I'm wondering why we didn't get the code red call? It's not as if only people who live right near Valley drive on it. And I still don't see it posted anywhere how long this work is going on for. |

Two things: How did the Code Red system get my cell phone number? I don't give that to anyone outside of my family and staff. Second, it seems to me that the road work on Valley St. is proceeding from Union toward S.O. Anyone know if S.O. is next? I guess I could just call town hall, but that's too easy.
