Mr. Anna and I are looking for some ideas for a vacation spot for about 8 days, maybe more, for just the two of us, in August. Here are our parameters (truthfully, they are all my rules; the Mr. has no parameters and would go anywhere): - Nowhere that is too hot -- that probably eliminates the south / southwest - No cruises - Someplace relaxing and beautiful but also interesting, with stuff to do It's a big country -- we need a jump start on ideas. I'd appreciate any you may have. Thanks! |

http://www.site59.com has suggestions.....but it's a last minute site for getaways so you can only book 14 days ahead. I got a great rate for a trip to Aruba (inc. flights from Newark) with my daughter last year with Site 59. How about Montreal or somewhere else in Quebec? (Approx 7 hours drive or you can take the Amtrak train) and yes I'm aware that it isn't the USA! |

We are going to Colorado and visiting Rocky Mountain National Park in a few weeks. We've rented a cabin in Estes Park and are also planning to see a concert at Red Rocks outside Denver. Maine is nice in August but can be crowded. |

While not quite in the U.S. Try Canada. Last year, I did a trip from Niagara Falls to Ottawa (beautiful) to Toronto to Montreal. All are wonderful places scenery and wildlife in between.
