Does anyone know a good, trustworthy, reasonably priced jeweler nearby? Just need to have two rings resized, but they're precious to me, so I want to find someone good to do the work.

Tony @ Beacon Jewelers! Very honest and a fine man; he has done alot of work for me and I have no hesitiaton recommending him 100%.
Beacon Jewelers is @ the corner of Maplewood Ave & Baker St, next door to the ice cream shop.

Do you know how long Tony/Beacon has been in business? It looks like one of the more "seasoned" shops in the Village.

Jeweler's Pinnacle on Main St in Millburn. He made our wedding rings. We designed them together with him (forget his name, sorry). Great guy, not too expensive. Does great work.

I second Tony @ Beacon. And he has been around forever, he knows everyone. And he has regular customers and when he goes to Jewlery shows he says to himself...hmmm I bet Jane Doe would like that and he buys it. Then says to Jane, thought you might like this piece and if she does great, and if she doesn't he won't try to push it on her.
Good, decent, honest local business man. Support his establishment.

You could try one of the Jewelers in the former Maplewood Manor on Springfield Ave between the former Maplewood Animal and Surgical Hospital and Boyden Ave.

Tony at Beacon is great and completely trustworthy. My husband and I bought our wedding rings from him.

i wish i was having the same experience with beacon as everyone else. i'm so frustrated right now. new to the area, trying really hard to support local merchants as i believe it's very important.

i took several pieces to get repaired over 4 weeks ago. i was told by tony it would be about two weeks. no problem, i completely understand that it's difficult to give an exact time when work is done elsewhere. he said he would call.

two weeks pass, no phone call. i drop by to check the progress......was told my items weren't ready and he would call. another week passes with no call or update. i drop by again.....told they weren't ready, they found some complications during the repair process. (fair enough, but a courtesy call to keep me informed would be much appreciated) i'm a reasonable person and can appreciate that the unexpected can happen.

just dropped by again, was told they are ready and he's picking up today. i was turning around to leave when he said "or maybe tomorrow." hugh? he had just said they would be ready today. how does tomorrow fit into that?

he seemed very uncomfortable/nervous talking to me this last time. all the while i have been chatty and pleasant and certainly not demanding or threating. i don't operate that way.

i certainly appreciate that he wants to please me as a customer and he should have all the time he needs to get the work done properly. i too want good work done on my most important pieces.

i just don't understand that since this job has gone beyond the initial two week quote why i haven't been given the courtesy of updates so i don't keep having to check in myself. now i feel like the bad guy here.

as i am posting this i am trying to remain positively focused that i WILL have my pieces tomorrow and they will be so fabulously fixed up that i will forget how yucky i feel right now.

please tell me i'm not crazy for feeling this way!

I've gone to Beacon for repairs on jewelry and watches. I've never had a problem. Yeah, the work sometimes takes longer than anticipated, but they do good work so it's well worth the wait.

My husbands wedding band had to be re-sized. His ring has a very complicated pattern, Tony was very upfront that he wasn't sure if the work could be done without leaving a visible seam, but we decided to have it done anyway. Looking at the ring now you would never even know it was altered. They did an absolutely beautiful job.

I also took my Great-Great-Great Grandmothers wedding band in to be re-sized. Again, Tony was completely upfront about the potential risks to the ring. I decided to not have the work done, and never felt pressured otherwise. The good thing is, I've since lost weight and now the ring fits fine anyway.

Yikes, Petal. I get a bad feeling about that. Let us know what happens - and no, you're not crazy.
But I too, have had good experiences with them.

We use Julius Oskenhorn on Millburn Ave in Millburn. He made my engagement ring and redid my wedding band and was my in-laws jeweler for years. Nice guys.
