Apparently, the world has practically stopped selling shoestring licorice now that twizzlers has a product that's like rope that you untwist. But that's not what i want... i want long, red shoestring licorice... by tomorrow. Ricky's Candy in Summit says they have it, but i was hoping for somewhere in the M/SO area, since i don't have any other need to be in Summit. I've checked Target, Kmart, the Dollar Store, and Pathmark. I'll be in Walmart later today, but i'm expecting to find twizzlers there too. =-( |

I think you really need to go to a specialty candy store for this. The mass merchandisers will likely just stock Twizzlers. On the plus side, if you go to Ricky's, you will see a wide assortment of candy as well as some very good ice cream. |

Does Livingston Mall have one of those candy shops that seem to be in every mall? you know, the walls are covered in candy bins, you bag it yourself.

They did have one at one time. Not sure if it's still there, but if it is, it's at the end near Macy's on the lower level. |

Places like Walgreen and CVS sell the red version in their candy aisle -- usually in those bags of store brand candy hanging on a rack -- there are bags of those caramel things with the white filling, bubble gum, circus peanuts, etc.

Are "red vines" shoestring licorice? I've seen large bags of "red vines" in the Walgreens in Short Hills. |

Papayagirl: I needed to get red shoestring licorice recently and found it at Shoprite in Millburn. This was about 3 mos. ago. I found it in the back near the produce, not in the candy aisle. Ask at the desk and they will help you. I believe they still carry it. Its packaged in plastic containers. |

Suzanne - I believe Red Vine is a brand - a Twizzler knock off.

I looked for it but with no luck. I ended up with Twizzlers and adjusted my plan! |

Okay, personal pet peeve. If it's red, IT ISN'T LICORICE! Only the black stuff has licorice flavoring in it (or anise flavoring if it's cheap candy). Panda makes good licorice. Pontefract cakes are hard to find, but worth it, and very addicting. |

So what would you have me call the long red shoestring-like candy without licorice flavoring?

Depends on the flavor. Strawberry laces or strawberry shoestring. Or raspberry, cherry, whatever the flavor is. |

Gotta agree. Real licorace (from the root) has no choice but to be black. And it's a pretty strong, specific flavor. look at the list of ingrediants on those cherry and strawberry candies and you won't see licorace listed. Delicious nonetheless! Raspberry? Never saw raspberry! Where can you get that? |

I just went to the Dollar Tree on 22 in the Pathmark/Best Buy lot. They had plenty of the shoestring rasp/lic/cherry. Happy shopping! |
