After wearing glasses for over 30 years I think I am ready for lasik surgery. I don't know anyone who has done this in recent years so I am looking for advice, recommendations on the different procedures and recommendations for doctors.

I tried searching on this a few days in a row but the search keeps blowing up.

Thanks for the help.

I used Sanjeev Nath. I got mine done 11 years ago and could not be happier. He is/was head of the whole eye surgeons council in the city. Great guy!

Depending on if it is covered by your insurance or you are paying yourself, you might investigate having it done in Montreal or Toronto at 1/2 the price. Tie it in with a weekend holiday at the city.

No, it is not amateur night there, they were performing the correction years before it was approved in the U.S.

Had LASIK performed by Dr Greg Pamel in the city back in 2001. insurance didn't cover it but the clinic had a loan program that charged no interest if you paid it back within 12 months. It totally changed my life -- I couldn't see at all without my glasses and couldn't wear contact lenses.

The change was immediate -- you wake up the next morning, and you can SEE.

good luck!

I had LASIK done by Dr. Koplin, head of eye trauma at NY Eye and Ear (in the city). I had it done last July and have been very happy with the results. I can give you more information if you're interested.

Thanks for all the recs. I will spend sometime looking in to the different doctors. It is good to hear that people are still happy with their choice to do this many years after the fact.
