My wife stays at home with our 14 month old son and just got put on bed rest with a second pregancy. (We are hoping the bed rest will last for only a week or two.) We're looking for short-term options for caring for our son - either in-home or outside. Any ideas?

Man, if I wasn't about to go out of town for a week I'd say he should come hang out with my 13 month old daughter all day, we'd love the company! You could try Totri day care, they're open from 7:00 or 7:30 in the morning until 6 PM, are right near the SO train station, and allow parents to be very flexible with their hours and don't require any long term committment. I sometimes leave my daughter all day, sometimes just two hours, I just have to call the day before to let them know she's coming. If you do drop off it's $9 an hour, and then it gets cheaper if you do 20 hours a week or 40 hours a week, and I think there's a registration fee of about $35. I don't need to use them as often now as I once did, but now that I'm also pregnant with #2 I love having them as backup for doctor's appointments or days I'm not feeling well. The phone number there is 973-761-4309, the woman who runs it is named Milena. |

timing is good since schools are just letting out. you might be able to find a high school student looking to make money this summer. you should look or post on the MOL classifieds. |
