Do you have a good one in the city to recommend? I haven't been to one, but I have read the most recomendations about: Dr. Eric Siegel 973-376-8500 225 Millburn Ave., Suite 204 Millburn Alan Liftin 973-535-5800 22 Old Short Hills Road, between St. Barnabas and Northfield Avenue Livingston

My teen-aged daughter had pretty bad acne. Dr. Siegel (see above) was GREAT - nice, sympathetic, spoke to us as if we might actually be intelligent people, and, most importantly, put my daughter on a very effective course of treatment. the acne is gone and she's off the meds. Staff are very nice, and I think the longest we ever waited was 10 minutes. I recommend him highly. |

What kind of high risk? Are you looking for a skin cancer specialist? |

Wouldn't someone in need of care for skin cancer be going to an oncologist? The skin cancer patients I've known have gone to oncologists. |

Not if you are still at the "high risk" stage. This would be before a cancer appears in someone at high risk for skin cancer (like me). If this is what Moving is even talking about. Some discoid lupus patients are treated by a derma, too. I often think that I should see if there is anyone out there who specializes in high risk skin stuff. But, I never get around to it & go to the same doc who probably spends the majority of his day dealing with zits. I'll be curious to see if anyone recommends someone to Moving. |

greenetree, that's exactly who I'm looking for - someone who specializes in high risk individuals BEFORE an oncologist is needed. |

Dear Moving and Greenetree: For ages I've been seeing Dr. Alysson Brockman who is with Eric Siegel's practice. I believe that I am the walking definition of "high risk" , having had every kind of skin cancer but melanoma not once but a few times. She is very thorough and quick to do all the biopsies that need to be done, and is insistent about follow up visits. They also work with a MOHS specialist, Dr. Krohn in Summit, who does whatever surgery needs to be done. I have spent much more time with these folks than I might have liked, but have been very satisfied with their professionalism. They have offices in Millburn and in Summit. Phone: 973-376-8500. |

Really Trying, Even if someone has skin cancer they would most likely still see a dermatologist, probably coordinated with the oncologist if needed. It's my understanding that most oncologists won't touch a cancer case unless chemo is involved. This from my primary doctor, my otolaryngologist and my endocrinologist. That said, I should probably get my pale butt into a dermatologists office too. My primary doctor had been bugging me for two years to get a screening. |

I have been using Drs. Siegel and Brockman. Dr. Brockman biopsied a mole that turned out to be a melanoma. I was immediately referred to the Cancer Center of New Jersey in New Brunswick for surgery. Luckily, it was caught early and no chemo was needed. The surgeon was excellent. I highly recommend both of these doctors.
