This is education-related, but I don't see an appropriate place to post this there. Why don't teachers return phone calls? I needed to speak to my high school son's math teacher about a time-sensitive matter. I left two pleasant messages. He never called me back. For that matter, why won't teachers participate in EdLine? This is a potentially fantastic tool for keeping parents informed. I just don't get it. This kind of unresponsive behavior would never be tolerated in the business world. (BTW - this is not a rant again teachers. This is a criticism of some teachers' (too many teachers') failure to respond.) |

How frustrating! I almost always heard back from teachers the same or next day, but since you haven't this time, how about calling your kid's guidance counselor? He/she would probably know if (for example) the teacher has been out of school, or could follow up with the teacher about your situation, or if all else fails might come up with a work-around. |

Are you talking about messages left Friday, and you haven't heard back by 1:40 on Monday? Or are you talking about messages left today? J.B. |

No, and I'm neither unreasonable nor crazy. I'm talking about messages left last Wed. and Thurs. mornings. |

"Why don't teachers return phone calls?" Ok, I know you're already irritated, and I do empathize. However, you seem to be grouping a lot of folks together based on recent experience with one person. Just a thought. |

Oh, dear. Shanabana, you're right. I apologize. Whhat I left out is that, in a cumulative total of 31 years of children in the SOMSD, I have encountered very few teachers who responded to telephone message or emails in a business-like way. So I',m afraid I do now lump them together and don't expect a response. I keep trying, though. |

Might be the same teachers that taught those contractors that never call back! |
