I know this is a long shot, but we have an enclosed seasonal porch that we're currently using as a sort of play room for our toddler. It's filled with little bugs, mostly ants and spiders and my son is discouraged from playing in there. I don't want to bring in an exterminator into the actual room, but would consider exterminating the perimeter. Does anyone know if this would help significantly? I understand the basic reason for why we're getting the bugs (it's not a room, it's a porch!), but wonder if anyone has done something that works other than finishing off the room. Thanks |

I've tried different herbs to keep out bugs - dried oregano and basil. Also, spiders don't like lavender. |

I would have the exterminator dose the room. They stick to the perimeter, and the stuff dries really fast. Open the windows, air it out, and after a period of time -I suppose you can ask your pediatrician and ''the bug person'' to recommend how long you wait?-- use the room again! I am sure exterminators have had many encounters with de-bugging rooms used for children and toddlers' activities. Maybe call a local pre-k or nursery school, for the exterminating company they use? Also, I would suggest you investigate natural bug repellents. Online websites should turn up if you google it. Good luck! Jersey girl |
