Dave - Yer the best. Gerry - Do you have your preferences set so that if searching open pages in new window is checked? I do and when I click on a thread (just regular click, I assume you are right clicking) it automatically opens in a new window with the regular colors. |

Hey, going from 388 to 389 sent me from Apprentice to Guru. I'm so honored. I'd just like to that the academy and all the little people who have helped me along the way. (How did you pick these numbers Dave?) And I love the smiley button. |

Dave, Something is wrong with New Messages. This was working correctly yesterday, but today I have done New Messages several times and it keeps saying that the last time I checked was last night. So it seems not to be recording my subsequent searches. I didn't change anything about cookie settings, etc. (I haven't touched the profile for either username and have tried this several times on each of them.) |

I just keep clicking on every thread and re-reading whatever Wendy writes. It's not always the most productive use of MOL, but I have to say, her grammar is impeccable. |

Aw shucks. You're only saying that because we're both gurus, aren't you? Actually I didn't learn grammar until law school, believe it or not. I must have been absent the one day in my New York City public school where they may have touched upon it. (My good grammar hides the lackluster writing style I've acquired, BTW.) Seriously, is it us or you, Dave and Jamie. I just checked for new messages and it says I last checked at 8:30 this morning. While I don't like to admit I checked subsequent to that, in fact I did. |

I like the new feature that displays the following message when you accidently try to double post: Message Already Posted You have already posted a message to this discussion which: Was posted within the last two minutes Was posted by you Was the same as the message you entered before You probably hit the button twice. This has been especially valuable since the upgrade due to the file locking problem which seems to invite double posting. (I've gotten it several times because after seeing the file locking message I returned to what I was trying to do and repeated it ... as I thought the file locking message instructed me to do.) |

The file locking problem will be solved shortly. I have to upgrade perl and add the perl::dbi module first (translation: a few hours of work next weekend). Then the searches and file locks will run off of a relational database. |

Thanks guys. New messages working great. Question, does one have to log off or can the window just be closed? Does it matter? |

I don't think it matters. In fact, it doesn't actually seem to log you on, although I wish it would. (Witness the fact that you still have to enter username and password to view results that are in restricted discussions such as member profiles, realname area, etc.) |

Thanx for all the hard work. The system is starting to settle down. I just took a glance at my preference setting in the PrivateLine section. I found that the preference for receiving Privateline messages was turned off. Since I know that I had it turned on before, could the upgrade have changed this?

I read where you will be making changes to stop the messages, but, what does the File Locking message mean? What is going on when I get it? Why would I get it on a Preview/Post Message selection and not just a post where writing is taking place?

File locking error means there are too many multiple uses of a file ongoing (more or less). There are additional things I'm going to do to make that error go away. The preview/post selection is doing an authorization check. The private message system isn't 100% in place yet either. Once it is, there will be a link on a username to a profile (which will NOT have realname or e-mail data) and from there a link to send a private message. |

A suggestion. I noticed that if I am on the Message Board in the Full screen format (which I like), I can not get back to the homepage. I find links to a lot of stuff, just not the homepage. Can you put it in the area in the top right along with the rest? |

On the homepage, the link to the South Orange Online page is gone. Perhaps I am ok with that, but could you add the Official South Orange website to the Local link section? |

I agree with jg on the home page link. also doesn't seem to be a link to privateline anywhere other than on the sidebar. |

I"m going through the process of updating each profile wherein I change the "real name" to "username". Once this is finished I'll be able to activate links on the posts to profiles without concern over exposing someone's identity. The link to someone's profile then presents the private messaging ability. I don't know how this will take. Probably a week or possibly just a day, depending on what needs to be done. |
