I was copying a disc and it won't eject. I pressed the eject button on the keyboard. I clicked on the eject icon on the bottom of the itunes menu. It acts like it's ejecting, then it reloads the CD without actually ejecting it. Is there a manual override? Do I have to throw out my computer?

Is there a little hole at the front of the cd tray? If so place an unbent paperclip into the hole. This forces it to open.

There is no such hole. I also remember this hole from the original Macintosh Apple. Is this progress? Or is this another way for Mac to blackmail me into buying the iEject accessory? There is a funny little button on the screen portion of the iBook-- above the hinge. I'm scared to poke it. Please someone help me, I don't want to read the manual!

Hurray! It just ejected. Thank you Alleygator, for your prompt response. Maybe the threat of an unbent paperclip scared the iBook into cooperating. Now back to importing discs...

Just a point of clarification for us PC users. How do you stick an "unbent" paperclip into a straight hole?

You have to unbend it. Wise guy.

Also keep in mind that you can restart the Mac, and while it is restarting, hold down the mouse button until the CD ejects.

What happened when you selected the mounted disc icon on the desktop and tried the eject keyboard command, "command + E"

You know I spent a fair amount of time trying to think of the right way to describe the paperclip. I finally gave up an went with unbent paperclip. What is the proper way to describe what I was trying to say?

Try: If so "unbend" a paperclip and insert into the hole.

I, and I'm sure everyone else knew what you meant, but I was just joking around, which is something I need to get control of, I guess. (Or so I've been told!)
