Does anyone else find that when you try to rewind within a podcast on an iPod Nano, the Nano sends you back to the start of the recording? This happens to me about 70 percent of the time (the other 30 percent it rewinds properly). EXTREMELY frustrating.

You might try resetting the Nano, of course that means that any changes to the settings that you have made will be lost.

1) Toggle the "Hold" switch On, then Off again.
2) Press and hold down the Menu and Center buttons for several seconds.
3) The unit should reset to factory defaults.

Does this happen with all Podcasts, only with Podcasts, or with your music too?

The trick that IT SEEMS almost no one knows is that when the song is playing, you press the middle button once and it makes the timeline change and have a diamond in it. Now you can use the scroll wheel to move the diamond along the timeline. Now you can visually fast forward and remind EXTREMELY easily and with alot of control.

Yeah, I was actually HATING my iPod when I first got it until I finally figured that out. It seems undocumented and none of my friends (WHO I THOUGHT WERE POWERUSERS) seemed to know about it.

Weird, right? Anyway, you are always welcome Tom.

Thanks, AlleyGater! I assume this works for rewinding too?

You can also fast forward and rewind in a song by pressing and holding down the arrow buttons. It's slower than AllyGater's way. All of the Nano functions can be found in this manual:

http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPod_nano_Features_Guide.pdf

I keep it handy for when I forget how to use certain functions
