My younger daughter owns an ipod mini and wants to buy a big ipod. A month ago, she found another ipod mini on the street of NYC. She and my wife notified the doormen of the two buildings near the site where she found it. And I called Apple and read the serial number to the guy on the phone. He said he would send an email to the rightful owner. It's been a month, and no word, so I consider my daughter to be the rightful owner.

So now she wants to sell two ipods. One has the cables, charger, CD, but no box. The other has nothing.

I could sell both on ebay as a package, or I could sell them separately. I suppose selling them together might be good because if a family wanted them, they wouldn't need the cables simultaneously. And if someone bought the uncabled ipod, he'd have to spend some real money to get it going.

So what do you say? Sell together or separately?

Yes, let's stay on topic - thread drift on MOL is a rare and terrible thing.

So who's going to put some money in Tom's pocket here? Though this hardly seems to be a technology thread, more of a "for sale" thread. Hmmm....

It's not my pocket, it's my daughter's. And I'm not looking to sell it here. I'm looking for advice on selling on ebay. If someone here buys, that's fine.

The reason I don't want to drift is that I don't want to recount an unfortunate story because it really won't help anyone if we do so.

I was about to say I want one and send you an email until I saw how much they are going for on eBay. That's crazy expensive.

I would see how much they go for on ebay (with or without cables) and see if you would get more bundling it or selling separate. I suspect that separate is going to get you more though, for just a little more work.

Yeah Case stay on topic. Your question about the warranty has nothing to do with the iPod. As for going to he&&, you might want to check the travel topic.

Since I'm not stupid, I know the comment was directed towards me. That's all I have to say on the matter.

Puh-lease. I thought that you had agreed to keep it offline, JTA.

Tom - I dunno - unless there is a family with two kids who both want iPods, I think you may be better off selling separately. I'm not envisioning many scenarios where someone wants 2. Alley is right; watch e-Bay for awhile & see what is happening.

The cables/power charger really aren't a big deal, you can buy them anywhere.

Alley

Ture, when you know about it a head of time. The warrantee is a different story. Good question Case about the warrantee...

Alley, a new one isn't as much as you think. You can usually pick one up for under $200, with a $25 itunes card. You just have to watch the fliers. But if you can get a used one under warrantee for about $100 bucks, it migh be worth it.

The don't make the mini's anymore in stores, which is why they have sky rocketed in price on ebay.

Is the mini the one that had all the screen problems? Or was that yet another iPod model?

Mine is so old I don't even have the docking-station attachment at the bottom... shameful, I know.

I've had better luck on Craigs List in NY Metro area than Ebay. Give that a roll first, it's far easier, and you needn't worry about bidding and stuff. Check the clearing rate on Ebay, and post on craigslist for 10% less.
