First - I will say that I not the most technical human being in South Orange - but here it goes ... I have been having problems with my home wireless network over the past week. At times it has been ok but tonight I have lost access to it completely. My internet connection has also been pretty finicky of late - even if I connect straight into the DSL modem and bypass the wireless network. I don't believe the problem is the connection coming into the house. In the past I have issues with loose wires and my punchdown board. Can anyone recommend a tech person to take a look at it? I know a couple of guys who have helped me in the past but getting them here is difficult and expensive. |

Can't your ISP do a check on the DSL modem from their end? Might tell you something. |

I have called Verizon before when the same issue happened but it seems to be inside the house. The signal is ok from the outside. |

Just a shot in the dark here, but do you have any 2.4ghz cordless phones? I've talked with several other people having issues, and after replacing their phones with 5.8ghz, the problems went away. |

Not to mention a microwave oven, which operates on the 2.4 frequency also, I also have a couple of wireless cameras that operate on the same frequency. My wife is always interrupting the wireless stream of my music when she turns that dang microwave on. You might try changing the channel that your router is broadcasting on, then make sure that any wireless cards or set to the same channel. Of course I don't see as how this will affect a direct connection, can you take the modem outside and plug it directly into the connection that's in the box on the side of your house, then check to see if you have the same problem? Don't forget the extension cord. |

We don't use a microwave and I have a 5.8 phone system. I think the router might have reset itself and I will need to reconfigure it. |

Josh, Your modem is inside the house, right? :-) Verizon should be able to talk to your modem and see whether it answer appropriately. That's one form of check. Could be that the connections on your side of the modem are flakey. |
