I know you've done this before and I did search for the thread with no luck. Would you please post the list of spywares, adware, virus programs you have suggested we use? Also, not sure if it was you, but someone mentioned a program to clean the registry. |

Do all of these programs do different things? Which of them do you use and how often? |

While some of what I listed above do the more or less the same as some of the others, some do not. For instance, Ewido is not typically an anti-virus tool, it is an anti-malware tool, Ewido is a tool to scan for and remove Hijackers & Spyware, Worms, Dialers, Keyloggers, & Trojans, & should be used in conjunction with an anti-virus utility. Ewido uses signatures and heuristic algorithms to scan for this malware, and to protect in realtime against them (please see the website for more that it offers). AVG, while known as an anti-virus tool will also detect other malware, both on demand and in realtime, it also scans both incoming & outgoing email, though the link I gave above is for the free version, I recommend buying the full version for the added benefits ( http://www.grisoft.com/doc/1 ), see the comparison here, http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1/lng/us/tpl/v5 Microsofts utility (they actually bought it it from Giant and as a result is pretty darn good, it offers protection as mentioned above and also offers some akin to Spybot Search&Destroy. I could go on with more explanations, but if you follow the links and do some reading all of the information is there. Why should you use more than one when it offers the same thing as the other, because their are differences in the program, in when they may offer a virus or malware definition, and in the algorithim used to detect these. While one program may detect something, the other (while it should) may not, or it may not be able to succesfully quarantine & isolate infected files, or clean them. The same goes for other functions that the programs offer, one may just get something, or protect something the other misses.

the game or the tool? It should be fine, if you have it, use it, but make sure you cna update the program and definitions, if not, use something else, and some or all of the free apps I listed above. |
