I've heard this can be done and there's a website...Anyone ever had luck with this? Problem is, I think my SIM card from my current account is busted, cause it got wet. I think my old phone still has a sim card though. Thankful for any advice. |

I haven't done this. I understand you have to "unlock" the phone from the service it started out on. Since Cingular and T-Mobile are the only GSM services around, you can only switch from one to the other with a GSM (SIM-card) phone. And to switch, you have to buy a SIM card from the new service. I have, however, switched my SIM card into various different T-Mobile-activated phones. Works fine.

The battery in the older phone doesn't charge as much if the phone is older than a year so it might be better to get a new "free" phone. I have had them retrieve the SIM card in my old phone and transfered it to my new phone. |
