Now, this happens only in the evenings when, I'm sure "use" is high. I will be mid-post on MOL and the computer acts like I'm not on the internet. I have to close the airport and restart it and I'm fine. But it's happening too often for comfort.

I'm on a Mac iBook G4 and we use a wifi Air port. It works during the day with no problem.

What gives?

J.B.

All the firmware updates in? How's the reception look in Airport? (How many bars?) Have you tried restarting all the routing equipment (cable modem too)?

I doubt it's a time-of-day problem. Is there anything else different about your usage in the evening? Maybe you have a 2.4 GHz phone that you use more in the evening, or a microwave?

Definitely get rid of any 2.4 GHz phones. And ask your neighbors if they have any.

Maybe try changing the channel on the Airport.

yep, besides the above, it could be that a neighbor has wireless and it is interfering with yours, changing your wireless channel would be one of the simplest things to try in this case.
Make sure Interference Robustness is in use also.
