We got one, the Verizon kit, and will be installing it when the service is ready. The kit looks pretty scary...with filters and wires, boxes and stuff. Has anyone had any experience with the self install kits and any tips to offer? The computer has it's own auxillary line, so do I still need the three filters? |

The filters are for any other phone or fax machine you use on the same telephone line. Very easy to install. |

You won't need the filters IF you have a second phone line that the DSL is using. Just follow the directions, call their help line if you need to, and you will be just fine! |

Oh, and here's some more advice: Don't use the verizon.net email they offer you. Tying your address to the ISP makes it inconvenient when you change ISP and you have to notify all your correspondents, who won't update their address books anyway, and they can't reach you. Also, verizon mail doesn't work very well. They don't comply with industry standards, so some other ISP's block mail coming from them, thinking the mail is spam. There are other problems with their mail which are too boring to list here.
