I am ready to move onto something more powerful, and less irritating, than Microsoft Publisher.
I have seen Adobe Illustrator and it looks great but I am so confused by all the Adobe products available out there...

What suite of products would you all recommend?

I am just a creative gal who likes to prepare all sorts of forms, invitaitons, and other text-based documents that usauly include images.
Also ,my daughter is totally into anime and is showing quite an apptitude for computer-based graphic designs - even with our very limited software.
I figure the investment in the software can be justified because it will be used by the whole family.

I need a PC based suite of products that will let me type, cut, paste, scan, paint and generally "fiddle with" a design.
I would love to hear your opinions.

Illustrator is primarily a vector drawing program (images that can scale in size without losing resolution).

For desktop publishing: Adobe InDesign ($699)
Animations: Flash Basic ($399)

Adobe offers free trial versions, so check those first.

Illustrator is a great program, but expensive. If you can swing Creative Suite 2, that is the top of the line.

Thank you folks!

I think I will spend a few days with the freeware and the free trial.
I like to buy things once, and buy it right the first time, so it does make sense to "kick the tires" of each of these.
