My tv set which has served me well for the past 18 years is finally on its last legs. So, I decided to get an HDTV as a replacement making sure it can support 1080p. Is anyone out there currently enjoying the programming from Comcast in HDTV? If you are please tell me how the programming and picture quality is. Thank you ahead of time.

The picture quality on the HD channels is great - ESPN, INHD (which shows some of the IMAX movies), HBO/Showtime etc and the local channels. I only wish they had more channels in HD!

Now, that said, with a hi-def set, it is quite possible that you will be more aware of the poorer picture quality of some of the standard def channels - especially those digital channels that are heavily compressed.

That said, the future is in HD, so I do not think you will disappointed. If you're getting an HD box from Comcast, and you don't already have something like TiVo, you may want to spend the extra ~$10 and get the Comcast DVR service, which works with the HD channels.
