Help! My computer is stuck in "safe mode". For reasons unknown, while on AOL my computer shifted into safe mode. No keys were accedentally hit that I know of. I re-booted which should solve the problem but no luck, it was still in safe mode. Shutdown again and at startup hit the F8 key and "normal" (1) which is supposed to get you out of safe mode and still no luck. Have done this several times to no avail. I called AOL and they put me through the same drill, mumbled something about memory an hung up. I have plenty of memory. Went to "Windows Help" and it didn't! I am hoping some of you Gurus can help me out. I am now going to do my "Anti Safe Mode" dance as a last resort.

Emmie:

What operating system are you running?

Are you able to use your modem? your printer?

Have you tried changing your settings?

Have you tried running a diagnostic program?

Hey Joan,
Thanks so much for your help. I have tried everything suggested and will take it to GeoTech in South Orange on Monday, he is great. I just hope the problem isn't the mother &*%$#@* motherboard!

Emmie:

Good luck with it. You are right to get someone to look at the computer who knows what he is doing.

Generally, If it runs...the motherboard isn't the problem. It may just be some bad drivers, or a dying periph. Good luck.

No problemo - I read it as "big" several times before I realized it was a typo.
