The stand on my Apple Cinema Display, 2004 version, snapped off. Serious design flaw if you ask me. I called Apple Care and they said it isn't a "user installable part" so they don't have it in stock. This looks like an easy part to screw in, and I'd do it if the current piect wasn't broken right at the connection with the screws, and if someone could provide me with a replacement. Apple Care sent me to a "certified service provider" (in this case, the Apple Store in Short Hills) for repair. The Apple Store said they can't fix it and told me to call 1-800-myapple (not Apple Care, 'cuz "they can't help"), so I did. 1-800-myapple directed me to Apple Care who then told me it is not a part they keep in stock and I should go to a certified service provider. You get the picture. This is typical of my service experience with Apple but that is beside the point.

Nothing on their web site indicates anyone has ever had this problem, so that's no help either. Does anyone out there in MOL Land have any experience with trying to fix a Cinema Display stand that has broken off?

Thanks, that's very helpful. But of course one good deed deserves even more questions.

The first link appears to be just bck to the message board, were you trying to link to a specific message?

Now to start the long journey to repair...

Thanks again for the help. I was really frustrated but I see some hope here.

I'll let you know how it turns out next time I see you.

Regards,
-Andy
