My newish iPod refuses to give me an on-screen. It blinks briefly when I plug it into the computer/power, but thats it. There's no reset button on this, so I'm not sure what I can do? |

I don't have a specific solution, bit if "newish" is less than a year old, you can bring it to the Apple store at the Short Hills Mall, and if they can't fix it, they'll give you a new one. |

Sometimes they freeze....to "reset" you should hold down the center button and the menu button at the same time for about 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, then I would suggest taking it to the Apple store, but mine has frozen at least twice and both times the reset has worked. |

In my experience, the Apple Store is a NIGHTMARE to deal with. You can only make repair appointments through their website, and even then, you can't pick the general time that you'd be available - you have to go by their schedule. Even then, you can expect to wait well past the designated appointment. Only ProCare members can choose their time, which is obnoxious. I bought the AppleCare extension (different from ProCare) for my iPod. When it dies, they'll send you a DHL mailing kit, you pack it up and drop it off, and get a new (refurbished) model in a few days. Unfortunately, you lose your data in the process I quickly learned to have everything backed up on my home machine. I've owned an iPod 20GB since 2003 and am already on my 5th replacement. Hopefully the reset option works. Good luck! -Brian |

Smarty, Try plugging it into the white a/c adapter that came in the iPod box and then plug it directly into an outlet. Let it charge for a few, and then try and turn it on. |

I've never had a problem being seen at the Genius Bar in the Apple Store at the Mall At Short Hills, I've never bothered making an appointment online, I just get there first thing in the morning, and make an appointment on any Computer in the store, I don't generally have to wait too long, especially that early in the morning and seeing has how a lot of people don't show up for their appointments.
