It was working when I closed the lid. I opened it today and nothing. No whirring noise, just a light indicating it had power. Any thoughts? |

Massive hard-drive failure...total crash while sleeping...have you tried holding the powerbutton down for ten-15 seconds...then hitting it again? |

Yeah, I've held the button for a while...and I've hit it. I've hit it plenty. Wouldn't there be any sounds coming from it? |

Motherboard. Same thing happened to us, with the same symptoms you describe. Even tried the battery removal that Glock describes. Nothing. As Dr. McCoy said to Captain Kirk, "He's dead, Jim." |

If you need it to operate as a laptop, absolutely. If, however, you're like many laptop owners (and never use it battery-only), then just leave it as is! |

Try putting it back in and running it...it may have just needed a PIM reset. |

Same exact thing happened to my work laptop a couple of weeks ago - also a thinkpad, but not sure of the model number. Only, in my case it happened while I was working - in mid-email! Grrrrr. |
