About a year ago my Palm V lost all of its charge due to a lack of use and inability to charge it. I am now able to charge it and it has since spent a great deal of time in the cradle. I have attempted to synchronize it. The hot synch seemed to go well, but at the very end the screen gave me a Fatal Exception message and indicated that it needs to be reset. Tapping on the reset icon is of no avail. I have attempted to reset it via the small hole on the back, but this does not yeild any results either. At this point, I can't even turn it off!

The data on my computer seems to be fine, and I have continued to use the desktop software. Thanks in advance for all suggestions and advice. -KQP

I recommend replacing it. You got years of use out of it. Your data is safe on your computer. Well, I hope you back up your hard disk. You can sync your data with a new device.

The Palm V was a disappointment to many. I have an older model that uses AAA batteries that I can get anywhere.

There's a method for a hard-reset you can try, what you do is hold down the power button while you poke the reset button on the back. It should restore it to the original factory settings. It'll erase everything, but that's probably not an issue since you've got it backed up. Worth trying. See http://palmgear.mykbpro.com/Article_2CEB9.aspx.
