When I installed the software, I stupidly opted to get the Optonline setup wizard installed in the startup. So, everytime I turn on the computer, I have to cancel the Optonline wizzard. How do I get rid of this needless thing? |

If it puts a system tray icon up(generally bottom right corner) right-click it and and see if there is a settings menu |

If you're feeling particularly bold: Go to 'Run' in the start menu, type 'msconfig' in the box. Go to the tab marked 'Startup', and uncheck the appropriate box for Opt Online. You can expand the 'Command' field to get a better idea of what you're unchecking. BUT: if you aren't sure, don't guess, and for heaven's sake don't play with the other stuff in that utility, it's a good way to make your operating system never work again. |

A slightly more user-friendly approach would be to use the Tools section of Spybot; they have a 'system startup' section that gives you the same basic information as msconfig (but, as already mentioned, you CAN do some serious damage even in Spybot so be careful!). |

Before you do msconfig or Spybot, check to see if the program is in your startup folder. Probably not, but worth a quick check. Assuming you have XP, right click on the start button in the task bar, choose Explore. In the file listing that pops up, Start Menu will be highlighted. Expand the Programs folder directly underneath Start Menu and Start Up will be one of the folders you see. Open it up and see if your offending program is there. If it is, highlight it and hit the delete key. Worth a shot.

I can't find the tools section of my Spybot program (Serch and Destroy 1.3). I can't figure out which of the startup items is Optonline. And, unfortunately, the thing is not in the startup folder. Glock, I guess I'll go with your plan, though the thought of finding (or not) the cd and possibly losing all inter-connectivity for a while is a little off-putting. Thanks anyways! |

For Spybot, Select "Mode" from the main menu and "Advanced". This will cause a set of additional options to appear on the lower left hand side; select "Tools", then "System Startup". IM if you have problems! |
