I need to purchase or borrow (will pay) either Microsoft office or professional program. I had some problems with my laptop and need to reinstall either one of these programs. If any one has one and willing to sell that would be great. I cannot afford to purchase either one of those new. Thanks, Tricia |

I'm not sure your request is legit -- with current versions of Office, you are limited to # of installs on multiple PCs -- and the serial # is checked with Microsoft after install. If you orignally bought Office -- try contacting Microsoft. I've bought successfully from this company before -- heres a deal on Office 97 for $50. http://www.surpluscomputers.com/store/main.aspx?p=ItemDetail&item=SWW12084 If you're a student, more deals to be had as well (look for the Student and Teacher Edition of Office. An alternative is to use Open Office. The look and feel is different, but it reads and writes files that are totally compatible with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Open Office is FREE. You just download it and install it on your computer. http://www.openoffice.org

Check out http://www.royaldiscount.com/index.html. I recently purchased an OEM WIN98SE disk for $60.00, with no shipping fees and received it via UPS within 5 days. Highly recommend this site. |

There's always ebay. Just be sure the seller indicates that there is a product code included. Some people sell just trhe disk, which is useless without the code to "unlock" the license. |

When you buy copies like daylaborer did they may work, but it's still a violation of the license. And it may be pirated |

And, if pirated, it may contain spyware. |

Seltzer and Dave. Check out the site B4 you run your mouth. It's completely legit and a Yahoo retailer. |

Actually I can see the storm coming regarding my last post. Suffice it to say, that you won't get screwed out of what you order (from this company) and the product will be bonafide manufacturer software with no virus or spyware included. Legal? Maybe, maybe not. I guess if it's OEM, then it's not. Let the lawyers work it out! |

I've purchased software from eBay before, the discs were original Microsoft and the codes were legit - I actually installed it on an old box, forgot to activate... and had to call Microsoft direct to get it squared away (which it was - they were fine with it). I'm not quite sure of the 'loophole' with this software, but whatever it was I got it at a good price and have an (apparently) legal copy. Maybe its OEM only... boo hoo. I hope Bill Gates can still afford to super-size his value meal, you know? Having said THAT, I'm really interested in the openoffice site and I really need to check that out.

Have used Openoffice (open source MSoffice clone) and GIMP (open source Photoshop clone) on and off for a couple of years. They both work quite well and you don't need to shell out $200-400. |

I agree with both Tom and Andrew, both apps are fine, but man they aint the real thing (in so many ways it's unbelievable). If you are demanding user NEITHER will suffice. |

No daylaborer, it's not legal to sell OEM copies without accompanying hardware |
