In honor of Bill Gates leaving Microsoft, I have left IE6 for Opera. I downloaded it the other day - it's a fairly small file, loads quickly and automatically grabbed my favorites and email settings from IE. So far so good. I like the interface, and web pages do seem to load much faster.

I've been using Opera for years. I don't understand how anyone couldn't love it more than other browsers. I also use Firefox, which is also excellent, but Opera has a few features that just aren't anywhere else.

Unfortunately, Opera adheres to industry standards and won't change its browser to work with non-compliant web sites. This means Opera doesn't work with all web sites. So I run both browsers at once. When I find a website that Opera doesn't like, I go to that website with Firefox.

So on a PC, I never use IE, and on a Mac, I never use Safari.

Yeah, I've never been a big fan of Safari. It aint bad, at all. But it isn't Firefox (nor Opera).

Now if I could only obliterate IE from my memory entirely, I'd be a very happy web producer.

I've been using Safari almost exclusively lately, 2.0.3 version, with Pith Helmet, and Saft plugins.

Compared to FireFox, Safari looks a little dated. I'd use FF more on the Mac if I can get it to scroll more smoothly...very annoying.

what are your scrolling preference3es set to in FF Lazydog, perhaps you need to uncheck smooth scrolling, when I have it checked it makes scrolling choppy.

Interesting viewpoints. I'm really getting to like Opera the more I use it, but as Tom mentions I've found some sites that don't work.

I'm still using Safari on my Mac (mainly because I refuse to use IE) but I see that Opera has a version for Macs now. Has anyone tried it?

Yes, I've been using a Mac exclusively for the past month. Up until then, I was using Macs, PC's and Linux systems. I've been using Opera on my mac mostly, though I use Firefox for gmail. Opera works fine with gmail but Firefox works a bit better.
