I need the capability to convert powerpoint docs to pdf files. This is an ongoing need, so I need a permanent solution. I must need adobe something or other. Can this be downloaded? (for a price?) I realize this may seem like a no brainer, but I'm a software (and hardware, too, for that matter) doofus. Thanks in advance for your help. |

You need Adobe Acrobat Professional.($449.00 for a full, retail version at CompUSA) Also, there is something free called CutePDF, but I have never used it. Don't know how good it is. |

I would just check first to see if when you select File-Print - check your printer list to see if Adobe PDF or PDF Creator or the like appears there. I have it, but I don't rememember how it got there... Otherwise, maybe this will help http://www.primopdf.com/ |

You might try GSView; I've had good results with it and it is free: Step 1: Install a PS printer driver * I recommend installing the HP Color Laserjet 8500 PS (resident in Windows XP without a CD) * Go to properties and select ports - choose print to file as the default port Step 2: Print file from to PS printer * A dialog box opens for you to specify the filename and path * Name the file something.ps and save it Step 3: Use a PS to PDF convertor (Adobe distiller works great if you have it) * If you do not have adobe distiller, you can download ghostscript 8.5 for free from the link below http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/ * Open ghostscript exe file , open your .ps file and convert to pdf Note - use GSView for an easy conversion to PDF. PL me if you have difficulties - once you get it down it is VERY easy.

pdf995 is a free (adware) or super cheap $20 pdf printer driver. You can get it here: http://pdf995.com/ I've been using it for years now, with no problems ever. |

another vote for cutePDF writer http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp i've installed it on 15 windows machines in my office, works perfectly for standard letter or large format (36"x48") documents. Just make sure you install both CutePDF and their free converter, both available at the above link. Apple's built that function into the MacOX, Microsoft wants to create/own its own standard. Wish they'd fix that. |

You can also google "pdf creator" - works the same as PDF995, but no ads. It's on sourceforge. ah screw it... http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ |
