If you do not know who sent this to you, or even if you do.... Do NOT OPEN IT. Sounds like a virus. |

A .zip file is a compressed file created by the WinZip program. You'd need the utility to uncompress it. It would contain one or more files.

You can't get a virus simply by opening a ZIP file, or at least there are no known instances of such a thing. The files inside the ZIP could be infected though. There are a million ZIP file managers, not just WinZIP, although it's the best-known. Windows XP has built-in support for ZIP files. You can get WinZIP at http://www.winzip.com/. |

I downloaded to a floppy and scanned it before I tried to open it. It was virus free, supposedly. My virus software is up to date. Any other suggestions? Should I just forget about it? |

You're going to need a zip program, and they're pretty useful anyway. Install one and you'll be able to open the file. |
