I have a cd-rom of a catalogue of daguerrotypes. I want to use some of the images in my course on photography, but the "save image" choice doesn't appear when I right click on the image... I've heard it's possible to nab any image, if you know how. Is this true? |

Try this: - Have the image you want to copy, up on your screen - Hit the "Print Screen" (or "PrtSc", or some variation) button. This should copy an image of your entire screen - Open any image editing program that you have (even the "Paint" application that comes with Windows will work), and start a new document - Then "Paste" the screen image - you'll see the entire view of your screen from when you hit "Print Screen" You can then "cut" that picture you originally wanted, out of the larger image of your screen. Then, start another new document in your image editing program, and paste just the cut picture into the new image document. Save it in whatever format you need. |

If you want to streamline the process, try SnagIt (http://www.techsmith.com/snagit.asp). You can download a fully functional trial version that works for 30 days and it's great for taking screenshots of images, pages, scrolling pages, video, all sorts of fun stuff. |

If I try SnagIt for 30 days, will the images then only be available for 30 days? Thanks Nohero! I shall try. Carlos Norris™, I just don't get it.

"save image" choice doesn't appear when I right click on the image... Hm, I thought maybe the compilation of images were copyrighted and that is why there was no "save" option. Dave and Jaime frown upon copyright infringement. My bad. Edited to add: Can't you use another image viewer program instead of the one that came with the CD? That way, you can manipulate the image as you wish. |

How would it be an infringement? |

If this is on a CD-ROM, you can probably find the source file somewhere on the CD-ROM itself. Browse through it in Windows Explorer and simply copy it. |

No, the images get saved to your computer in whatever format you want, totally independent of SnagIt. Once the program expires you've still got whatever you've copied, you just can't open the program again (well, you could probably download it for another thirty days, I think I did that quite a bit before I finally broke down and bought it). |
