My cursor has gone on the fritz....if it is there at all it is in the upper left hand corner flashing at me. I have tried different mice and still can't get the cursor to work. So can't control my laptop at all without ability to point & click at something.

Do I need to take my laptop to the "computer doctor" for expensive treatment??

Tks,
Tabby

you can probably access your mouse settings by hitting the "window" key (looks like the windows logo) then using the up and right arrows to go to setting>control panel>mouse and keyboard settings...and seeing if you can fix it in there.

If the built in pointer on the laptop (touchpad or whatever it is) and an external mouse both fail to move the cursor then it could very well be a software problem. Odd are it just the pointing device (built in or external) was broken then the other would still work.

On a laptop, there's a good chance you don't have a Windows key, but you can hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to get the task manager. You need to figure out if the PC is frozen or if the cursor isn't responding.

If you can get to Device Manager you should be able to see if the mouse has an error.
