OK - here's how it started - it won't play any song I choose - I can choose a song, but then I can see that it's flipping through my whole song list, but it won't play any of them - and now, somehow, while trying to figure this whole thing out, it looks like maybe I changed the language from English to Japanese... I thought I had changed it back to English, but in a flash, it's back in Japanese.. what the hell?? |

sounds like it may need a reset. To reset iPod video, iPod nano, iPod mini, iPod mini (Second Generation), iPod photo, and iPod (Click Wheel) 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. 3. If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. 4. If this doesn't work, then you need to leave the ipod on until its battery is completey drained. Plug it in and when it charges enough go to #1. Repeat as needed. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705 Following link takes you to the original directions I copied. The above link takes you to the Apple website. http://www.geekfishing.net/consumer/gadgets/2005/03/14/ipod_reset.html |

is your "shuffle songs" on when this happens? My mini drives me crazy. it shows low battery even if I've been charging it for hours, but then if I smack it, it shows 2/3 power. |

I had to download new version of software from apple, which seems to have fixed it - for now, at least... thanks! |

Something similar happens on my mini if I let the battery run all the way down. It lists all the songs but won't play any songs I bought on iTunes - only songs I downloaded from cd's - I'll select a song and it just flips through in order until it reaches as non-itunes song. As soon as I sync the thing it corrects itself. |
