Hey man, I believe you and I appreciate the posting. If you see another one, just buy the damned thing and email me; I'll be at your door with cash in hand the next day.

As long as its a Seagate or Hitachi - I don't like the Maxtors anymore.

This time I got it - though I held back and only ordered one... thanks for checking it out, I have to admit I figured "out of stock" was a permanent condition.

Why did you jump on it? Did you think that price wouldn't occur again? Or do you need a 500GB drive now?

I always need more storage, for backups if nothing else. A 500 GB drive (especially an ATA drive) will keep me going for quite awhile.

Hell, when I consider that one of my backup boxes only has 1TB on board, a 500 GB drive for this price is a deal I can't pass up!

must be backing up everything, I know the feeling, I have so much stuff I don't even need, but one day you never know....
Not to mention if you need backups for test systems, customers, music, video, redundant backup.....

Actually, it's simply 3TB of porno.

Heh heh heh - just kidding - a lot of video, a lot of music, backups galore, some test systems (Cisco servers, mostly)... only about 1TB of porn.

I used to be anal about backing up (no pun intended). Now I burn everything off, mostly digital pics and music, and make two copies. I'm religious though about backing up my financial and docs to Zips and another PC. I couldn't imagine losing any of that!

I've got it and I'm burning it in right now. So far it is quiet and cool... which means that I'm either happy with it, or it died and I haven't noticed yet.

I have to say, it is a very quiet and cool-running drive.

I have a terabyte of back up and haven't used it all. Though the movies have filled one 500Gig drive.
