I thought this might be helpful to Maplewoodians who use Comcast as their ISP. (We SO-ians use Cablevision.)

My brother was installing Comcast software on my mother's computer (in Florida) and discovered it contained a snooping tool.

Here's the link that describes how it works.

Maybe this is old news--or maybe it doesn't apply in New Jersey, but I thought I'd relay the information.

I had Comcast service for a long time and never installed their software. The author is right, none of it is necessary, but you may need to know a bit about setting up a client on a network if you don't use their software.

I don't know about the Broadview thing, but the Support.com software allows Comcast support to assist you in a service call. I've never called them for service so I never had the opportunity to use it. But it's not like the software does nothing.
