I'm finally getting around to setting one up and getting away from Geocities, but I am running into trouble. The UnlimitedFTP software that Comcast provides is of no help.

I created a basic page in MS Word 2000. Two frames. I saved it as an .htm file and went into "My Web Pages" at comcast.net. I navigated to the file, clicked the "Publish" button and then tried to go to my site thru IE 6.0. I get an error message that reads:

Not Found
The requested object does not exist on this server. The link you
followed is either outdated, inaccurate, or the server has been
instructed not to let you have it. Please inform the site
administrator of the referring page.z}

I have verified that the file is OK and in the correct format. If I
save the page with the error message to my hard disk and then reopen
it, I see the page I was trying to load.

If I try to create a page with no frames, I get a "Page Not Found" error. Comcast won't help, saying they don't support page design. Any thoughts?

I figured it out. I'm new at web design so I didn't realize that when you create a page with two frames, that you actually have to create three pages -- one for each frame and a 3rd to act as a front end. The Comcast FTP utility is still a joke though. I found that WS_FTP Pro is much easier to work with and more stable.

Oh my, another issue. I've got the page built but it loads s....l....o....w....l....y. Doesn't matter if it's a simple page with just one line of text. Has anyone else used Comcast to host their site? How was the performance?

Thanks. I had better results today. Must have been a traffic issue yesterday.

No, but I took two lessons at NetNomads, created my own website, got a domain name, and got it hosted for a few hundred bucks, all under the guidance of NetNomads. The same with my wife's website.
