I build databases for distribution to paying subscribers. One format we provide is FileMaker Pro (I build them in Access 2000, export to ASCII comma-delimited, then import that into FileMaker Pro 5.0 for the PC -- Mac users must convert the files). Users of FileMaker Pro 6.0 for Mac are reporting an error when they try to open the database files. The error message reads:

This file could not be translated using the selected file type.

Conversion to the Mac version of FM Pro 5 works, as does conversion to the trial version of FM Pro 6. The file format is correct for FileMaker Pro 5 and 6. This error has been encountered by several users on different systems (OS 9 and OS 10). No luck with the error message at the FileMaker web site, and a Google search didn't turn up anything. Any ideas? Need more info?
