How would you answer this plea for help........ Dear Son: Seems like my 'Microsoft' has d i e d! Can't open it up - can't get to my files. I've tried everything I could 'under the help' program - nothing works. Can't find some of the info recommended....... I keep getting a light 'pop up' of Microsoft - and it disappears before I get any kind of message - whatever that is, I don't know. How can I 'unfreeze' my Microsoft???? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks. Luv, Mom XXXXXXXXX |

I'd say someone needs to look at her computer. Guessing based on this kind of description is pointless. |

I have had the same thing happen with Outlook Express. Some setting has corrupted it. The easiest thing to do is a system restore, which will restore your computer's settings back to an earlier setpoint. If you can get into the control panel, go to performance and maintenance and there should be an option for system restore. If not, try calling Microsoft and they can walk you through it. |

My sympathies. I abandoned Microsoft years ago. On Apple only now; no tech troubles other than a rare reboot since 1998. With OSX no reboots either. I now focus on work rather than my computer. What a concept. |

Dacar - sounds a lot like my Mom. She's 78 and just started learning how to use a computer around a year ago. Typical crisis: "I can't get on the Internet!" Actual Problem: She'd deselected the Address bar in IE, removing it from view. You have my sympathies. |

Try putting in a windows boot disk. I find that sometimes a solid start up, the regular restart does wonders. -enigmabomb- |
