Is it possible to have two phone lines in the same house that are different distances to the CO? |

It depends on how the wires on the poles are strung. Hard to believe two lines coming out of the same house would go different routes, but it's theoretically possible. If you're saying that one of those distance programs, like on DSLReports, is giving you different numbers, it's because the databases are crap. |

When we moved into our house we started with one phone line. Eventually we added a second line for the kids and then a third line for the computer, using dial up access. Since from time to time the line for the dial up connection goes down and the line for our normal phone doesn't (and vice versa) I am pretty sure that they are routed differently. The box on the pole for the dial up line is a block and a half from our house while our original line is handled by a box in front of our house. I suspect the telephone company was scrambling to find capacity as more and more people went with multiple lines. I don't know if this is enough to effect DSL lines or not, but it does happen.

On the street I lived on in Edison, some people had New Brunswick exchanges, and some had Metuchen exchanges. I don't know if any household had one of each, though. Tom Reingold There is nothing
