Recently, whenever I try to access the Maplewoodonline home page, I receive the following error message:

Can't Find the Web Site www.maplewoodonline,com
500 Unknown Host

I am then directed to another screen which tells me:

Matching Sites: ... Maplewood Online - Your browser does not support script. ...
http://www.maplewoodonline.com/

I click on this link and then get the MOL home page.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and what if anything can be done to correct the problem?

I am running windows 98 on a Presario 5190 using an AOL dial up connection.

Thanks in advance.

It might be worthwhile upgrading your version of Internet Explorer. Do you know how to do that?

Is that exactly how you entered it, "www.maplewoodonline,com"? If so, the comma is your problem.

Tom:

IE is current. Problem may be that it is hosted by AOL.

jjkatz:

No I entered a ".". "," in my post here is a type-o.

What version of AOL are you using?

I don't know specifically that the AOL browser doesn't play nicely with this site, but I know it's been a problem at other sites. If you can use an alternate browser, I'd try that.

Or it's a zen browser.

Dave:

Definely a zen browser.

Jamie:

I'm running AOL 7. Anything higher causes my computer to develop a Kernal 32 error. It's a seven year old machine.

Last night I finally managed to get around the problem by clicking on the matching site link which causes the MOL home page to start loading. About half way through I get a dialog box telling me that there is a script error and asking me if I want to continue loading the page. I click "yes" and the page continues loading with no problem.

I don't have a fix for this issue. If I had a more specific error on the script message, I may be able to do something - I can't see the error on my end.

I did however help a client fix an annoying error on his 6-7 year old computer - I took him to Best Buy and got a new machine. You can get a really good computer for $600-700 bucks. (He didn't need a monitor, printer and the silly service plan.)

Thanks, Jamie.

If you like, I will e-mail you the script error details the next time I try accessing the home page. Mostly, I just go directly into the Message Board through a browser history link and thereby avoid the problem.
