Dave - Can't there be an expiration on postings in the classified section? There are outdated tickets for sale, items that have already been sold are still posted, garage sales that have past etc. etc. If the posts only lasted 2 weeks, I think that would be better IMHO

I'll see what I can do about that - I was going to expire listings after 2 months. I really can't go through and weed out expired things - I'll try to. But the great thing about the way the classfieds work - is that the posters can approve/remove/edit their own posts.

Jamie/Dave:

Any help on that would be appreciated. I had asked about this in the past and given the same answer. It is a pain in the tookus to use the classifieds section and everyone tells you their items are sold.

I know - last time someone complained I sent out an email to everyone who had a listing letting them know that they can take their item offline via a link.

Many of them did at that point.

What else can I do? I'll send another email out soon as another reminder - there's no other way I can know when someone sold something unless they take it off themselves.

Maybe i will expire things after two weeks, but then I'll get complaints about their listings disappearing. Plus, I end resizing practically everyone's photos - so that would entail a lot more work for me if the reposts are the wrong image size.

maybe have it where they expire after 3-4 weeks? Not too long, not too short? You could put a notation in it that they automatically expire unless the person goes in (within 4 days of expiration - not earlier or they will just go in and lengthen it) and can make it expire one week later?
