I'm trying to backup my picture files to a CD. When the pc finishes processing the copy it reports that "the file has extra information attached that might be lost if I continue copying, the contents of the file will not be affected. Do you want to copy the file anyway? Huh? Can anyone help explain this message? |

I'm not sure if this is the case, but some digital cameras can deliver an image that has several layers of data, one with the picture, another with information on when it was taken, the type of camera, its settings at the time, etc. You might be backing up the picture but losing the data on when, where, how etc. |

It is a weird message. The "contents" will "not be affected" but "information attached.. might be lost". That's like a zen koan. |

Frequently, grasshopper, information must be lost before the contents may be saved. |
